FAISALABAD: Rana Muhammad Ayub, general manager (GM) of operations for the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), has welcomed the opportunity for women to gain experience and training in the power industry through partnerships with FESCO and the Asian Development Bank.
This move by the ADB is crucial for reducing discrimination against women in the energy industry and giving them equitable employment chances.
At the FESCO Headquarters, he was speaking at a ceremony to present certificates to 12 female interns who had completed their six-month training.
He thanked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) management for establishing possibilities to assist women in the sectors of science, engineering, information technology, and mathematics that provide a link to utilize their abilities and increase their effectiveness. By offering women this opportunity, FESCO has created a new standard.
The goal of this Asian Development Bank project, according to Director General (HR) FESCO Athar Ayub Chaudhry, is to enhance the involvement and employment of women in highly skilled and non-traditional occupations in the electricity sector.
In order to provide women in the electricity sector with equitable employment opportunities, the ADB’s program is crucial, he continued. He added that women with degrees from various national educational institutions will receive a six-month internship as interns and eventually prospects for employment. He continued by saying that FESCO absolutely respects and protects its female employees.
Farah Al Ain, Munahal, Amina Khan, Ashna Batul, Tuba Gul, Farwa Zulfiqar, Zahra Ali, Sabiha Kausar, Huma Safdar, Shanze Tariq, Tayyaba Mushtaq, Saba Khalid, Ayesha Arif, Samira Batul, and Saira Jabeen are among the successful interns who successfully finished the internships.
Additionally, they shared with them their insights and how helpful they felt this internship to be. Additionally speaking at the ceremony were ADB Member Furqan, Managing Director (CTC) Lubna Hashmat, Project Lead Mehwish Ali, and Administrative Officer Asghar Khan.
Later, General Manager of Operations Rana Ayub presented diplomas to three FESCO employees and 12 female interns who successfully finished their internships. In FESCO and IESCO, this program was first implemented as an experimental project. Additionally present at the ceremony were Director (HR) Ghulam Mujtaba, Director (Public Relations) Tahir Sheikh, Director (OD) Mahmood Ahmed, and Superintendent Admin Salman Qamar.
