How to Registration via Mobile SMS for Ehsaas Rashan Program
According to Dr. Nishtar, households must guarantee that the mobile SIM card is registered in the same name as the ration card application. People would be notified via SMS on 8171 if they are eligible for the ration discount, she said.
They will receive an SMS from 8171 after registering, and they can use that SMS to go to any grocery store and purchase basic items.
Dr. Nishtar stated that store owners will be registered with the same URL and bank account number and that if a store owner does not have a bank account, he will be able to open one with the National Bank of Pakistan. She said that 40 million people applied for the Ehsaas rationing program, with one million of them being accepted.
Those who have not yet registered for the program can do so at NADRA centers, where special registration desks have been set up. People should not believe bogus calls or SMS, she warned, and should only follow the instructions received through 8171.
Dr Sania, speaking at a press conference after a briefing at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in Peshawar, said the federal government’s Ehsaas Rashan program, which also has a 65 percent participation of the government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, aimed to provide relief to the needy.
She noted that the scheme would assist up to 20 million households identified by the recently concluded Ehsaas survey, totaling 130 million people, or 53% of the population.
Ehsaas Rashan, according to Dr. Sania, gives each of the 20 million families an Rs1,000 monthly subsidy on wheat, lentils, ghee, and cooking oil.
She said that these three commodities would receive a 30% subsidy.
Dr Sania told reporters that Ehsaas has created a digitally-enabled mobile point of sale system in partnership with the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to serve beneficiaries through a network of Kiryana stores approved by NBP across the country.
The SAPM stated that she would visit 30 communities in this regard and that individuals may obtain information on the website for registration to benefit from the program, which would run for three weeks and would begin in December.
She told reporters that families with monthly incomes of less than $50,000 were also eligible to apply for registration.
Government employees earning less than Rs31,500 per month, on the other hand, will profit from the initiative.
